FERRIDAY — Services for Marie Worthy, 81, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Country Brook Living Center in Brookhaven surrounded by her loving family, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Robert Menesses officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Worthy was born July 14, 1933, in Ferriday, the daughter of William Butler and Sally Dickens Maples.

Marie was a certified nurse’s assistant at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday and Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital in Natchez. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and she loved being outdoors and adopted all the animals that came her way. She also loved her crafts that she made. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Worthy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chuck Worthy; an infant daughter, Jackie Haney; five sisters, Alice Licata, Mary Westbrook, Edna Bennett, Ethel Teal and Gladys Hale; and two brothers, William Bobby Maples and Henry Thomas Maples.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Saucier and husband, Joseph, of Natchez; three sons, Mack Nations and Michael Nations and wife, Lisa, all of Silver Creek, and Donnie Haynie and wife, Carolyn of Bogue Chitto; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Nations, Joey Saucier, Jamie Keys, Adam Baity, Lee Knapp and Danny Burris.
