RIDGECREST — Voting in Ridgecrest municipal elections may seem a little redundant this fall.

While voters there will decide on a school board member and a justice of the peace, the village’s entire municipal government was elected Friday — so to speak — when only enough candidates qualified to fill the positions available.

At the close of qualifying, Bobby R. Sheppard Sr. had qualified for mayor without a challenger and Ricky Williams was running for police chief unopposed.

Five  positions were open on the village’s board of aldermen, and five candidates qualified, including incumbents Rita “Mitzi” Bolyer, Jamie Harrison and Robert D. Maples.

The other two slots will go to newcomers Darleen Humphries and Larry Lawrence.
