Adams County Justice Court cases

Aug. 22-28:

David McCurdy pleaded guilty to sale of a controlled substance.

Milton Larry III pleaded guilty to malicious mischief.

Adams County Circuit Court cases

Thursday, Aug. 28:

John Edward Young Jr., found guilty by a jury of sexual battery in Judge Forrest “Al” Johnson’s court. Sentenced to 20 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Must pay all court costs and fees to include a $200 prosecution fee.

Friday, Aug. 22:

Timothy Maurice Selmon pleaded guilty to the lesser offense for burglary of an automobile and for simple assault on a law enforcement officer in Johnson’s court. Upon acceptance of the plea to guilty, the state agrees to dismiss, retire or not pursue a pending charge of simple assault on a law enforcement officer. Sentenced to a total of 10 years to run consecutive in MDOC. Full credit given for time served. Must pay restitution in the amount of $500, all court costs and fees as well as a $200 prosecution fee.

Thursday, Aug. 21:

Richard Wayne Davis pleaded guilty to grand larceny in an amount greater than $1,000, but less than $5,000 in Johnson’s court. Sentenced to five years in MDOC, with the court retaining jurisdiction for one year for placement of the defendant into the Regimented Inmate Discipline (RID) program with MDOC. Must pay all court costs and fees as well as a $200 prosecution fee.

Michael A. Johnson pleaded guilty to burglary of a vehicle (count II) and to burglary of a vehicle (count I) in Johnson’s court. Count I is dismissed. Sentenced to seven years on count II and to an additional seven years to run consecutive in MDOC. Full credit given for time served. Must pay all court costs and fees as well as a $200 prosecution fee.

Natchez Municipal Court cases

Friday, Aug. 22:

James D. Reed, 48, charged with two counts of felony false pretense. Case dismissed — brought in affidavit from bank stating alterations. Reed also charged with misdemeanor false pretense. Case dismissed — brought in affidavit from bank stating alterations.

Cierra Patrice Norman, 20, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from store. Fine set at $573.

Itaska Johnson, 20, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $573.

Domaria Miles, 27, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $573.

Kadaga Blanton, 18, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from Belk. Fine set at $573.

Monday, Aug. 25:

Elizabeth Junkin, 20, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. Driver’s license suspended for six months. Fine set at $493.Junkin also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Driver’s license suspended for six months. Fine set at $493. Junkin also pleaded guilty to speeding (47 mph in a 35 mph zone). Fine set at $202.

Timothy Scott Wilson Jr., 23, charged with shoplifting — first offense. Case dismissed — co-defendant took responsibility.

Louis L. Burgman, 31, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $1,000.

Larry Hall, 52, charged with simple assault. Case dismissed — stale case.

John Paul Hall, 38, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — second offense. Sentenced to 60 days with 53 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Credit for seven days served. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $923. Hall also pleaded guilty to willful trespassing. Sentenced to 10 days with three days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Credit for seven days served. Fine set at $323.

Zelberdia Moore, 41, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor false pretense. Sentenced to 30 days with 24 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Credit for six days served. Fine set at $323 minus $150 credit. Must pay a fine of $173 and restitution of $121.

Wednesday, Aug. 27:

Derrick Lyles, 32, charged with simple assault — domestic violence. Case dismissed — victim and officer failed to appear on served subpoena.

Curtis Sanders pleaded guilty to trespassing. Sentenced to 20 days in jail. No fine set. Sanders also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct — failure to comply with law enforcement officer. Sentenced to 20 days in jail.

Gregory Charles Rose, 39, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days with 26 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Credit for four days served. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $643 minus $100 credit. Must pay a fine of $543.
