NATCHEZ — Despite a fast start, the brakes were put on Adams County Christian School and Central Private’s game due to inclement weather.

Teams were forced into the locker room, and after about an hour-long wait, the game was suspended.

“Talking to the weather advisors, this thing wasn’t going to let up until about midnight,” said ACCS head coach David King. “And we don’t want their team on the road that late or risk injury to anyone out there.”

The game is set to resume at noon today at Central Private.

Coming off a 56-44 loss to Centreville last Friday, ACCS needed to start the game on the right foot. They did.

After just four offensive plays, ACCS had the lead 20-0.

“The guys came out very focused,” said ACCS head coach David King. “Our motto here is ‘tick tock,’ that is the clock ticking for these seniors. That is how quick it goes and these boys, they responded. They know that this season will be halfway through soon.”

Lester Wells got the scoring started for ACCS with a 43-yard run on the Rebels second offensive play of the game.

After forcing a punt, ACCS scored on their first play of the drive on a Carlos Woods pass to Trey Fleming from 42 yards out.

ACCS would force another Central Private punt and once again score on their first play of the drive, when Woods found Parker Rymer from 21 yards out.

ACCS was able to add another touchdown on a 15-yard run from Torrey Smith on the last play before the suspension, to push the lead to 26-0.

Even though his team holds a big lead and was playing well, King is still worried about the game being suspended and resumed today.

“I am very worried, this is unusual for high school kids,” King said. “College kids are more mature and can handle these types of things, but you’re talking about high school kids right here. It is one of those things you don’t see but once a decade. We’ll have to come back, get mentally focused again and go play at their place now. We’ll see who the leaders are when we head down that way.”
