“They took us out behind the woodshed and kicked our butt,” said Vidalia head coach Jeff Hancock. “They’ve got a lot of talent and are a good team.”

The Trojans got off to a fast start behind bruising running back Dontrell Domino, who finished the night with 164 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries.

Domino found the end zone twice in the first quarter for Ferriday from seven and 15 yards out to give the Trojans a 15-0 lead heading into the second quarter.

Ronald Davis scampered in from 32-yards out and Domino once again scored from 7-yards out to give the Trojans a 29-0 lead entering halftime.

Davis took the opening kick of the second half back for a touchdown, but the return was called back on a penalty.

“It’s frustrating because that was my first one,” Davis said. “But we’ve got to work on the penalties.”

Ferriday would keep scoring, though, with Shannon Morales finding the end zone from 46-yards out and A.C. Cummings hauling in a 31-yard pass from Ronald Williams to push the Trojan lead to 43-0.

Malik Hampton capped the scoring for the Trojans with a 30-yard run in the fourth.

Although the score favored Ferriday, head coach Cleothis Cummings wasn’t extremely pleased with his team’s performance, which included 14 penalties for 125 yards.

“I’m really not happy because we worked on correcting the mistakes we made a lot,” Cummings said. “It is just a mental game of football.”

Besides penalties, the stat sheet was all Ferriday with the Trojans outgaining the Vikings 503 to 83 in total yards and also holding a shutout on the defensive side.

“I think we did good, but not good enough,” said Morales of the defense. “We’ve still got a lot of things to work on.”

Besides racking up 324 yards on the ground, the Trojans were also able to air it out some. Williams finished the night 12-17 for 179 yards and a touchdown.

A.C. Cummings lead all receivers with four catches for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Vidalia was able to have some success on the ground with Rodriguez White leading the way with 43 yards and Jarius Thompson adding 24 yards of his own.

Next up for Ferriday is a showdown on the road at Richwood.

“We’re going to start the week full throttle,” Cummings said. “We’ve got to get ready for a good team in Richwood. We’ve got to get mentally and physically prepared. We’ll get in the weight room, watch film and do the little things it takes to win.”

Coming up for Vidalia is a matchup against Bolton at home, and Hancock said he and his team will do like they do every week.

“We work hard and get ready to go beat Bolton,” he said.
