Canal Street traffic being rerouted after wreck

NATCHEZ — A single-vehicle wreck Monday afternoon is causing traffic to be rerouted on Canal Street for at least four hours.

One lane will remain open to southbound traffic on Canal Street, while northbound traffic will be rerouted to Briel Avenue and continuing to Pearl Street.

Natchez Police Department Capt. Tom McGehee said Entergy crews are working to replace a power pole after a vehicle crashed into the pole Monday afternoon on Canal Street near the intersection of D.A. Biglane Street. Further details of the wreck were not yet available Monday afternoon.
