FERRIDAY — A celebration service for Carla Ruth Paul Mason, 69, who died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with Dr. Steve Ellis and the Rev. Gorden Finley officiating.

Graveside service will follow at the Pauls Family Cemetery in Monterey under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Ms. Mason was born Dec. 25, 1944, the daughter of Carl and Marvyn Paul.

She was a delightful child who grew up to be a sweet Southern Belle. She loved her family, literature, cats, old movies, porcelain dolls, a good joke, a game of cards and enjoyed giving to those in need.

She married a Mississippi man, Ray Mason, who was her faithful companion for 36 years. Her remaining family is rejoicing that she is now reunited with him in heaven.

Perhaps they are “cutting a rug” down the golden streets, or playing cards with the saints of old, up there where the odds are always in your favor.

Those remaining behind are her loyal sister, Brenda, co-pilot to Steve Ellis; one nephew, David “Thor” Ellis with his trophy wife, Catherine; one niece, Lori “Twiggy” Nielsen, bride of Patrick “GI Joe” Nielsen; and soccer mom to their “Fantastic Four” Stephen, John, Anna and Faith; and a number of friends who embraced her as a sister.

The family is grateful for all the thoughts and prayers for Carla these last two years as she struggled with cancer. She fought hard, has “finished her race” and is now rejoicing with her Lord in glory.
