9:30 p.m.: Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Courtney Taylor said law enforcement officials were still searching for a trusty who escaped earlier this afternoon.

Dominique Williams, 20, ran from an Adams County jailer while the two were emptying trash in a dumpster in the parking lot behind the jail. Williams was arrested for burglary and probation violation and was made a kitchen trusty a month ago.

Moments later, Jonquil Jackson, 21, ran from the jailer and crew of trusties who were cutting brushes in the same parking lot. Jackson was arrested on two counts of burglary and receiving stolen property and was made a trusty with the road crew.

Jackson was later apprehended, but Williams remains at large. Taylor said she didn’t know further details of the investigation to locate Williams.

Taylor said area residents should take extra precaution in locking their doors and being on the lookout for suspicious behavior, but that Williams has not yet been arrested for any violent crimes.

“Thus far, it’s only been burglary charges, but that’s what they’ve been doing when they’re in and out of jail,” Taylor said. “I think this should serve as an eye opener for people to not have a false sense of safety and to just be aware of their surroundings at all times.”

Williams is described as a six-foot-one, 170-pound black male and was last scene wearing a white T-shirt with grey and white striped pants.

Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield was unavailable for comment Sunday.

NATCHEZ — Two trusties from the Adams County Jail escaped at approximately 12:05 p.m. today.

Dominique Williams, 20, arrested for burglary and probation violation, his fifth arrest, who was made a kitchen trusty a month ago, ran from an Adams County jailer while the two were emptying trash in a dumpster in the parking lot behind the jail.

Moments later, Jonquil Jackson, 21, arrested on two counts of burglary and receiving stolen property, his third arrest, who was made a trusty with the road crew, ran from the jailer and crew of trusties who were cutting brush in the same parking lot.

An Adams County jailer ran after them and kept them in sight while reporting on his radio.

Both inmates were spotted and reported by citizens in the downtown area on Pearl, South Commerce and South Union and later on the railroad tracks in Duncan Park.

All available law enforcement and tracking dogs are in pursuit.

Both inmates are wearing white T-shirts and grey and white striped pants.

Jackson is a 5-foot-six, 160-pound black male. Williams is a six-foot-one, 170-pound black male.

Jackson was apprehended at approximately 1:15 p.m., while Williams is still at large.
