NATCHEZ — Natchez firefighters used the Jaws of Life and every possible way to reach the driver of an SUV that ran off Martin Luther King Jr. Road north of Old Country Club Road.

The driver Teven McKnight was pinned in the car when it hit a light pole. Firefighters, at left, removed part of the fron windshield to help rescue McKnight. Recuse crews also used the Jaws of Life to remove the drivers side door, which was also pinned against the light pole.

Mississippi Highway Patrol officers, Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Natchez firefighters responded to the accident.

McKnight was airlifted to Rapides Medical Center in Alexandria. Calvin McKnight, the passenger of the car was taken to Natchez Community with moderate injuries.
