Come join the Co-Lin Natchez Family as we welcome the Christmas Season.

“Tis 23 days before Christmas when all through Co-Lin, all the family were stirring getting ready for the Open House to begin.

The decorations put up throughout the campus with care in hope that St. Nicholas and the Community soon would be there.

The students were ready with games at hand, faculty and staff bubbled with excitement with festivities planned.

Cocoa and cookies to warm their mittens, baked from the hearth of the Co-Lin kitchen.

When out in the Nelson Multipurpose Room arose such a clatter, the Co-Lin gang sprang to see what was the matter.

There in the doorway, with a wink and a grin, stood St. Nick, who said, ‘Come in. Come in.’

Co-Lin family and community gathered around, where Christmas songs made a joyous sound.

St. Nick smiled and posed for pictures with wee lasses and lads, laughing and spreading Christmas glads.

All the photos had been taken,

All the cookies had been eaten,

St. Nick rose, moved to the door, ‘Merry Christmas to all, until I see you once more.’”

We would like to invite everyone to come out and enjoy our annual Co-Lin Community Christmas Open House from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Nelson Multipurpose Room. This family event is sure to put smiles on the faces of the young and young at heart. The decorations will be sparkling and the trees will be lit. The campus is beautiful, but it is even more spectacular when you add some Christmas cheer. It is our gift to you during this special season of giving.

From letters to Santa to mixing up some reindeer food, the evening’s festivities will consist of classic games, crafts and activities for all the children. What Christmas celebration is complete without Santa? He will be dropping in from the North Pole to visit with the children. While Santa visits, he will have one photo taken with each child for them to take home, at no cost. Be on the lookout for Elves, too. They are flying in with Santa and Mrs. Claus to assist this year and will be serving delicious Christmas snacks.

This is one of our favorite annual community events. We are very excited to be able to offer this wonderful evening of fun again. Please accept our invitation and join us on Dec. 2. Co-Lin is “your” community college, and this is just a small way for us to thank you for your continued support.

I would like to wish everyone in the Miss-Lou a Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

Teresa Busby is vice president of Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Natchez campus.
