Weekend Ticket: Adoption, Christmas festivities headline weekend

NATCHEZ — Miss-Lou residents will have a weekend full of Christmas events as the holiday approaches.

Residents can expect heavy showers today and Friday. Cooler temperatures are predicted throughout the rest of the weekend.

The Towers will continue hosting its annual Jeweled Christmas display through Dec. 21.

Thousands of pieces of vintage costume jewelry ranging from 1880 to 1950 will be on display throughout the Natchez grand mansion.

“I love to see people’s reaction, they just light up, said owner Ginger Hyland. “It’s all worth while.”

Tours begin promptly at 4 p.m. today, 2 and 4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m., 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 8 to 12.

The Towers will also host a special Christmas candlelight tour from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The tour includes refreshments and live music.

Tickets to that tour are $35 per person with advance reservation required.

Libations at Linden

Linden Bed and Breakfast will host, “Libations at Linden” from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $20 per person and will feature a tour of the home’s Christmas decorations and its famous Natchez Milk Punch.

“It’s a delicious treat that contains sugar, rum, brandy, vanilla extract and milk — all frozen to create a slushy treat,” said general manager Ann Watts. “We have spent time decorating Linden to make it beautiful for the tour.”

Natchez Little Theatre, “A Natchez Christmas Carol”

The Natchez Little Theatre will present “A Natchez Christmas Carol” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

Performance tickets for non-members of the NLT are $15.

The NLT is located on 319 Linton Ave., at Maple Street.

Natchez-Adams County Humane Society Kitten Adoption Day

The Natchez-Adams County Humane Society will host a cat/kitten adoption day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Stine and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Natchez Mall.

Castle at Dunleith Christmas Celebration

Dunleith’s annual Christmas Celebration will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at The Castle Restaurant.

Several food stations will be designed around the Castle’s favorites, including oysters, southern shrimp and grits, short ribs and much more.

The event will also include a martini, beer and wine station, which will be included in the ticket price.

There will be local live music during the event, which requires attendees to wear cocktail attire.

Tickets are $45 at the door and $40 in advance.
