NATCHEZ — The Concordia Parish School Board was presented Thursday with its 2012-13 audit, which school officials say didn’t have any issues.

The audit, which was presented by Business Affairs Director Tom O’Neal, stated Thursday during the board’s monthly meeting that the board’s general operating account had $19.8 million at the end of June last year without owing any money.

“We have 21 funds, but that’s our general operating account,” O’Neal said. “This is the only fund that is not designated for something.”

O’Neal said the board uses its general operating account for teacher salaries, employee salaries and benefits.

“We are very conservative people here,” O’Neal said. “Because of that, I think we have been very successful in keeping our funds balanced.”

The board has more than $30 million in total funds, which O’Neal had his staff to thank.

“Our accounting staff has been with us a number of years,” O’Neal said. “We just have the right people in the right position.”
