FERRIDAY — Services for Terry Garnel Mize Sr., 85, of Vidalia, who died Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, in Vidalia, after battling a lengthy illness, will be at 10 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Jerry Reed officiating.

Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Mize was born Jan. 30, 1929, in Jonesboro, La., the son of John Davy Mize and Netter Murphy Mize.

He retired from farming after 33 years in Tensas Parish.

Mr. Mize served his country in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys Allen Mize; one grandson, Justin Wade Skipper; one sister, Ruth Iree Mize; and three brothers, Guy Clinton Mize, John Cecil Mize and his twin bother, Teddy Donald Mize.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Mize and wife, Lisa, of St. Joseph, La., and Nelson Mize and wife, Beverly, of Chalmette, La.; four daughters, Patricia Deville and husband, Richard, of Ferriday, Ruth Addison and husband, Billy, of St. Joseph, Mary Newsom and husband, Danny, of Newnan, Ga., and Janet Skipper Barron of Clayton; two brothers, R.V. Mize and wife, Juanita, of Vidalia and Winfred Mize and wife, Amanda, of Waterproof; three sisters, Eulela “Sister” Mize of Tallulah, La., Edwina Tullos of Newellton, La., and Gettie Watkins of St. Joseph; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Danny Newsom Jr., Jared Skipper, Troy Perez, Chris Valentine, Nathan Addison, Teddy Mize III, Todd Valentine and Paul Addison.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Warlick, Owen Mize and David Tyson.
