“Last week in the (Vidalia) jamboree, we didn’t even have an error. They did really well and had a lot of key hits today,” Foster said. “Megan Naquin had a single and a triple, hitting in the No. 9 hole. That’s really big. Taylor Yates was 2-for-3 in the eighth hole.”

As for Rodgers’ performance on the mound and at the plate, Foster said, “It all starts in the circle. Taylor did a real good job today. She pretty much hit her spots, had control of her curveball and did a good job for us today. When she’s in the batter’s box, you always have a lot of confidence in her.”

Franklin Parish scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Rodgers was able to pitch herself out of the jam and preserve the win.

“We’ve got a very big lineup. We’ve got some really good kids on the bench, too. It’s a privilege to be coaching a team with this much talent,” Foster said.

Block takes two games at its own baseball tournament

JONESVILLE — The Block High School Bears rebounded from a blowout loss to Jena High School on Friday night with a pair of wins Saturday afternoon at the Block Tournament.

The first win of the day was easy for Block, a 16-1 annihilation of the Epps High School Panthers in just five innings.
