I support Randy Freeman for sheriff

I recently resigned my position as captain with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and joined the ranks of ACSO retired deputies on Feb. 25. I look forward to retirement with time for family and needed time to address personal projects.

Over the past four years, I served in several positions with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and have had the pleasure of working with some very professional deputies that are very dedicated to the law enforcement profession.

One that stands out among many is friend and fellow officer Randy Freeman.

He is a tribute to his profession, having recently retired after 30 years as a deputy with the sheriff’s office. Randy demonstrated an undying loyalty to the sheriff’s office, serving five administrations — Billy Ferrell, Tommy Ferrell, Ronny Brown, Angie Brown and Chuck Mayfield.

Regardless of task or assignment, Randy gave his best, and his compassion for fellow officers and this community has no boundaries. Working seven weeks without a full day off to complete ACSO projects, working Christmas Day on his assigned day off to provide a fellow officer time with family during the holiday, or dedicating his off time to collect food for the homeless were commonplace efforts of Randy’s.

There are countless officers, including numerous cancer victims that benefited from Randy Freeman cash donations or a donation of accrued time that continued income to sick officers that would have otherwise gone without income.

He has been a positive influence on the sheriff’s office and a tremendous benefit for the community. His vision and aggressive campaign to initiate numerous programs for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office has benefited the sheriff’s and community with positive results; thereby demonstrating his positive vision for the sheriff’s office and a keen ability to implement, manager and administer.

The Adams County Deputy Rodeo with profits designated to provide funds for deputy equipment resulted in a major savings to Adams County. The Ladies Beware Class, which instructs ladies on self-defense tactics, self-awareness and gun safety control has been a valuable educational safety class for women of Adams County.

Are you OK?, a valuable assistance program for senior citizens provided welfare checks for disabled senior citizens until it was disbanded by the current administration. The Junior Deputy Program, which peaked with an enrollment of 350 children (disbanded by the current administration) instructed our youth on the dangers of crime in schools and in the community, mentored and motivated our children and adolescents to become stellar citizens of Adams County.

Congratulations, Randy, on a tremendously successful career in law enforcement and community relations. I hope that your retirement is short-lived as your community needs your continued influence.

By means of this message, I am encouraging every citizen of Adams County to support and vote Randy Freeman for Sheriff of Adams County. Let’s make the sheriff’s office an agency that exemplifies honesty, integrity and professionalism by electing Randy Freeman sheriff.
