FERRIDAY — Services for Virgil Ernest Smith, 86, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be at noon today at the Pentecostals of Miss Lou with the Rev. Gary Howington, the Rev. Jeremy Howington and the Rev. Joey Paul officiating.

Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Rhinehart under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Smith was born April 16, 1928, in Jena, La., the son of William Leonard Smith and Alice Breithaupt Smith.

Mr. Smith proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kenny Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Eva “Louise” Smith; four sons, Chris Manshack and wife, Nancy, of California, Donnie Kelly and wife, Cynthia, of Ridgecrest, Bruce Kelly and wife, Rita, of Ridgeland and Kirby Kelly of Shreveport, La.; three daughters, Vicky Kelly and Judy Massey and husband, Tommy, all of Vidalia, and Patricia Smith and husband, Fred, of Bossier City, La.; two sisters, Doris Maxey of Beaumont, Texas and Billie McClure of Shreveport; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
