VIDALIA — Four Concordia Parish residents face charges of cruelty to juveniles for keeping children in a house reportedly full of animal waste.

Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Vernon Stevens said deputies responded Saturday to a report of an attempted suicide at 802 Vidalia Drive in Ridgecrest.

When they arrived, deputies found the house in deplorable conditions, with animal feces and urine all over the place, Stevens said.

Two adults — Katie Reid, 23, and Kimberly Pounds, 32, both of the Vidalia Drive address — were present, as well as three female juveniles and two males.

Seven dogs were reportedly in the residence, Stevens said.

CPSO juvenile officer Brenda Harris responded to the scene and interviewed the children, who were placed with their grandparents by the Office of Family Services, Stevens said.

One juvenile was transported to a local hospital but was released, Stevens said.

Katie Reid and Kimberly Pounds, as well as Jonathan Reid, 22, 802 Vidalia Drive, and Charlie Bruce Pounds, 42, 2030 Robert Gray St., were each charged with five counts cruelty to a juvenile, five counts improper supervision of a minor and seven counts cruelty to animals following the investigation.

Judge John Reeves released all four suspects from the Concordia Parish jail on a promise to appear.
