NATCHEZ — Services for Catherine Jaquith Meng, 78, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 5 to 6:30 p.m. today and at 1 p.m. until service time Friday, both at the church.

Mrs. Meng was born Nov. 11, 1936, in Natchez, the daughter of Earl Ambrose Jaquith and Mary Katherine Prince Jaquith.

She was a member of St. Mary Basilica, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Pilgrimage Garden Club.

Mrs. Meng attended Ole Miss where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She also served as an Adams County Election Commissioner since 1982 and served on the Longwood Board.

She was an avid bridge player.

Mrs. Meng was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. “Catty” Meng; her parents; and two sisters, Genena Walsworth and Carolyn Broussard.

Survivors include four children, Jim Meng and wife, Rosa, of Jackson, Terry Meng Dreier and husband, Peter, of Pasadena, Calif., Tracy Meng Gaudé and husband, Lance, of Natchez and Paul Meng and wife, Susan, of Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren, Byron Meng, Jason Meng, Allie Gaudé, Olivia Gaudé, Lance Gaudé, Amelia Dreier, Sarah Dreier, Clare Meng and Charlie Meng; five great-grandchildren, Austin Meng, Haylee Meng, Rhylee Meng, Alley Meng and John Meng; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Meng of Natchez; two brothers-in-law, Blake Wadsworth of Natchez and George Broussard of Lake St. John; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Todd Broussard, Mark Broussard, Joe Meng, Gregory Meng, Alan Wadsworth, Stephen Guido, Gary Guido and Donald Hicks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Byron Meng, Jason Meng and Kelly Harelson.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Basilica or to Cathedral School.
