NATCHEZ — For the third time this week, inclement weather has played havoc with local and area baseball and softball games. And it’s probably adding to the frustration level for not only the coaches, but the players as well.

Adams County Christian School’s spring trial softball home games against Delta Charter School have been canceled. ACCS head coach Rick Fife did not say if the games will be made up.

And it wasn’t just the Thursday’s heavy rain and thunderstorms that forced several games to be rained out.

Wednesday’s severe weather that hit parts of Walthall County resulted in Franklin County’s softball team having to postpone their MHSAA Division 7-3A games at West Marion in Foxworth until next Wednesday with the junior varsity game at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs won at division rival Tylertown on Wednesday 1-0 to improve to 10-9 overall and 3-1 in division play.

Cathedral’s JV and varsity softball games at Enterprise Lincoln were canceled. Lady Green Wave head coach Gary Blackwell said the games will not be rescheduled with the postseason not that far away.

One softball team that did not have to worry about its games being washed out was the Block Lady Bears. That’s because they ended up playing a doubleheader against two LHSAA District 3-1A opponents on Wednesday — Montgomery and Northwood-Lena. Unfortunately, Block lost both games to finish 3-12 overall and 1-9 in district play.

Cathedral’s home baseball games against MHSAA Division 7-1A rival St. Aloysius were postponed. Green Wave head coach Craig Beesley said the JV and varsity games will be played next Monday or Tuesday.

Monterey’s home baseball game against LHSAA District 6-B rival Grace Christian was postponed due to the bad weather. Wolves head coach Eric Richard said he does not know when the game will be rescheduled.

Block’s home baseball game against District 3-1A foe Logansport was also postponed. Bears head coach Stevie McCarthy said the game will be played next Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Vidalia’s game against Marksville has been postponed until next Tuesday with a 5 p.m. start time.
