Roast, Alcorn walk/run highlight weekend

NATCHEZ — A dinner theater, a healthy activity and a couple of celebrations will give Miss-Lou residents a big to-do list this weekend.

Heavy showers are predicted for the weekend with a 10 percent chance of precipitation Sunday.

Jefferson Street United Methodist Church will host a dinner theater play at 6:30 p.m. today until Saturday and 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Dinner includes roasted pork lion, sweet and tangy green beans, wild rice pilaf, warm rolls and apple dump cake for dessert.

The year’s dinner theater will be acted out by the Jefferson Street United Methodist youth in a play titled Godspell.

Godspell shares teachings of Jesus from the gospel of Matthew told through parables.

Admission for adults is $17, youth is $12 and children is $5.

Natchez Little Theatre Retirement Roast for Don Vesterse

Members of the Natchez Little Theatre will honor long time actor and stage designer Don Vesterse who is returning to his hometown of Spring Grove, Minn., after 15 years of service at the Natchez Little Theatre.

Vesterse will be honored with a retirement roast, dinner and reception beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Natchez Little Theatre.

Tickets for the dinner, roast and reception are $25, while tickets for only the roast and reception is $10.

During the roast, community members will recall some of their most fond memories of Vesterse, NLT Artistic Director Layne Taylor said.

Reservations are required as seating for the dinner is limited.

Alcorn State University 1890 Wellness Walk/Run and Health Fair

Alcorn State University will host 1890 Wellness Walk/Run and Health Fair from 9 a.m. until noon today at Lorman, Vicksburg and Natchez campuses.

Registration is $1.89 for students and $18.90 for others.

Rhythm Night Club 75th Anniversary

The Rhythm Nigh Club Museum will remember those who lost their lives in the tragic Rhythm Night Club Fire 75 years ago.

The event will take place at noon on Saturday and will feature stories of the fire, refreshments and entertainment.

A free tour of the museum will be given and Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield will serve as the event’s guest speaker.

The Rhythm Night Club Museum is located on 5 St. Catherine St. in downtown Natchez.

Friday Forum

The Friday Forum will take place at 8 a.m. Friday at the Natchez Coffee Company on Franklin Street. The topic will focus on Atmos Energy rebate program.
