Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies Rodeo

The Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies Rodeo will take place at the Wayne Johnson arena Friday and Saturday.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.

More than 200 cowboys and cowgirls will compete in various showcases such as steer wrestling, bareback riding, team roping, bull riding, bull dodging and barrel racing.

The rodeo clown will be played by Rudy Burns this year, who has been a rodeo clown for 38 years, performing all over the United States.

All proceeds from the event will help support the deputies’ fund, which is used to help families of sick and bereaved deputies and to purchase equipment.

“I’m so proud of our deputies for their hard work and their dedication, not only to their jobs but also to one another,” Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said. “We have been able to purchase needed equipment for our deputies as well as for Adams County Search and Rescue. This is a great event for our deputies and for the citizens of Adams County.”

Gates open Saturday at 6 p.m. and families will be able to enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, bungee jumping and a mechanical bull.

The Adams County Search and Rescue volunteers will provide food and beverage concessions.

The Wayne Johnson arena is located on 200 Foster Mound Road in Natchez.

Admission price for adults is $12 and $10 for kids.

Advance tickets are available for purchase at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office on 306 State St., in downtown Natchez.

Tickets that are purchased in advanced will have a $2 discount.

The Vietnam Wall

A temporary memorial wall will be on display Saturday through June 12 on the Vidalia Riverfront.

The memorial, which is a replica of the Vietnam Wall located in Washington D.C., is being brought to the area by Point Man International Ministries, who arranged the memorial to come through the American Veterans Traveling Tribute.

Opening ceremonies for the temporary wall will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Natchez High School Graduation

Graduation season will close this weekend with Natchez High School.

Natchez High School will host its commencement ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Natchez Convention Center.

Natchez High School will graduate 188 students.

Entry into the Natchez Convention Center Friday will begin at 6 p.m. Reentry will not be allowed.
