NATCHEZ — Angela Gibson Hutchins announces her candidacy for re-election for Adams County Supervisor of District 3.

Hutchins is married to Darnell Hutchins, they have two children, two step-children and one granddaughter.

She graduated from North Natchez High School and furthered her education by earning a bachelor’s degree in Office Administration from Alcorn State University in 1985, a MBA from Alcorn School of Business in 2009 and received an Award of Completion on Crucial Conversations and Influencer from Delta Leadership Institute administered by the University of Alabama.

Hutchins has been actively involved in the community. She has organized voter registration drives, political forums, delivered food to the elderly for the stewpot, collected Ddonations for the stewpot center (Pack-A-Pickup), painted homes for Habitat for Humanity, raises money for Relay for Life, organized breast cancer awareness program, and mentored community youth.

She and her family are lifelong members of Holy Family Catholic Church where she serve as an usher and a member of the church fund raising committee.

Hutchins is a member of the Mississippi Association of Supervisors, Delta Regional Authority, Advisory Board of Entrepreneurs, Vice President for the Board of Commission Workforce Investment, Commission for Southwest Planning and Development, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and National Advancement of Colored People.

She devotes her time working for Adams County Board of Supervisors for the past four years as county supervisor where she oversees county roads, and bridges, levies taxes as may be necessary to meet the demands of the respective county, and approves of expenditures and appropriation of county funds. For 23 years she was the administrative assistant for the Board of Supervisors where she handled all local county business and maintained all county fixed assets. She was awarded a 100% Certification Recognizing Achievement for Fixed Asset Management.

Hutchins has improved roads and bridges infrastructure, electronic payment system for taxes and fees, supported and enhanced economic development for new and existing businesses and industries, supported recreation for both youth and adults, no tax increase, implemented a summer work program for high school and college students, implemented a summer feeding program for Ages 3-18, organized Adams County Healthy U Program for county employees which saved Adams County money, enhanced Lagrange playground and community Center and supported Lagrange October Fest.
