NATCHEZ — Services for Monroe Theron Kennedy, 87, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Baker and the Rev. Denny Braswell officiating.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the Forest Cemetery in Forest, La., under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Kennedy was born May 30, 1928, in Magee, the son of James Houston Kennedy and Pearly Jane Myrick Kennedy.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Tullos Kennedy; his parents; one brother; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Floy Kennedy of Bastrop, La.; two children, Donna King and husband, Ronnie, of Aberdeen and Scotty Kennedy and wife, DeeDee, of Beebe, Ark.; four step children, Richard Gerald and wife, Peggy, of Bastrop, Roberta Gerald of Mer Rouge, La., Charles Evans and wife, Lorna, and Trudi Irby and husband, Dennis, all of Bastrop; six grandchildren, Tiffany Hall and husband, Jeremy, of Vidalia, Robert King and wife, Daisy, of Benton, Ark., Beth King of Aberdeen, Dani Barstow and husband, Jacob, of Muncie, Ind., Drew Kennedy and Kalina Coutee, both of Pineville, La., and Destiny Kennedy of Beebe, Ark.; 12 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and a number of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Robert “Bobby” King, Drew Kennedy, Tommy Barron, Benton Blackmon, Charles Cain and R.V. Mize.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 502 Ferriday Dr., Ridgecrest, LA 71334.
