Good news all over Miss-Lou last week

While we celebrated our nation’s independence Saturday, we also had reason to celebrate many great accomplishments in the Miss-Lou. Let’s take a moment to call out some good news from last week:

•We all know that Natchez is bursting with great attractions, but last week we were recognized for it. Mississippi Magazine named Natchez as the best weekend getaway in the state. With so many great restaurants, activities and friendly locals, who can argue wtih them? The Carriage House restaurant, Dunleith and Turning Pages Books & More were a few local attractions highlighted on the list.

•The Adams County administrative offices and Adams County Sheriff’s Office welcomed a few young faces last week. Each summer, the county hosts a summer work program for youth — exposing college students to the interworking of the county. We thank Angela Hutchins, District 3 supervisor, for offering this program, which not only provides summer jobs, but also teaches local students the importance of knowing how their community works.

•Whether you were out on Lake St. John Saturday watching floats cruise by or enjoying a burger on your backyard grill, we thank the community for hosting another great Fourth of July weekend. Our freedom is precious, and we’re not only thankful to be members of the Miss-Lou, but also United States citizens. We also extend a gracious thank you to all who serve our country and make our freedom possible.

As we plunge into another busy week, let’s remember to pause and thank those who make the Miss-Lou such a wonderful place in which to work and live.
