All the guys running for sheriff of Adams County are good guys. But, this election is not about the good guys. It’s about Adams County and what is best for Adams County. And, it’s about who is going to do the best job of keeping Adams County safe.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield is in his second term as sheriff and brings to the office a lifetime of career experience in law enforcement. Throughout the years, he has always been about what is best for all of us. He is available, approachable, and accountable. He has always wanted to serve, and protecting all the citizens of Adams County is his passion and his mission. Under his leadership, this critical department has maintained a strong sense of responsibility and integrity.

One of the most valuable tools in the prevention of bad things happening to us is the visibility and the presence of law enforcement professionals. We need to see them on the job, doing their jobs. Chuck realizes this and has honored his commitment to quick response and availability of all services provided by this office, whether in vehicles, on foot, on the phone and out in our communities. This consistent presence sends a strong message of no tolerance for crime and strengthens the potential of everyday safety for us all.

During election season, it is important for us to hear more about what candidates are going to do rather than the constant criticism of other candidates. Through conversations, publicity and public forums, Sheriff Mayfield has shown his intention to address future challenges with common sense and ongoing determination for continuous improvement in the service we deserve and receive from our sheriff’s department.

Sheriff Mayfield’s priorities for Adams County are for safety, service and responsibility. His attempts to provide these have never slowed down; and because I know him, I know that they never will.
