Buy fresh and local for a win-win for all

A big thank you to The Natchez Democrat for the very fine article about peaches that included us with our peaches.

Mary Kathryn Carpenter is to be congratulated for her very professional coverage.

Growing peaches and other fruit and vegetable crops requires a lot of hard work and expense. We are grateful in being able to supply just picked fresh produce at the Natchez and Vidalia farmer’s market.

Ninety cents of every dollar spent on locally grown food stays local and turns over many times in our economy, generating sales taxes with each time.

Eighty-five cents of ever dollar on non-local food is exported out of our economy to pay for trucking, middlemen and the non-local farmer who could even be in a foreign country. This leaves only 15 cents to turn over in our economy.

Buying fresh and local is a win-win for all of us.

Thank you again for your support.
