ST. JOSEPH, La. — The Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels overcame a sloppy defensive effort to defeat the Tensas Academy Lady Chiefs 10-5 in a four-inning contest Tuesday afternoon.

ACCS scored in all four innings — two runs in the top of the first inning, four in the top of the second, two in the top of the third, and two in the top of the fourth. Savanna Spear went 2-for-2 and Makenzie Landers was 2-for-3.

“We executed a couple of times playing small ball. We had a couple of big bunts,” Lady Rebels head coach Rick Fife said.

Ashleigh Williams pitched all four innings and allowed five runs on just three hits and three walks to go with three strikeouts. But the defense behind her was not even close to clean with five errors.

“Ashleigh pitched a good game. She kept the ball low. They hit a lot of ground balls,” Fife said. “We kicked the ball around a bit today defensively. But it’s early in the season. We’ve just got to improve on our defense.”

ACCS (2-0) next plays on Thursday at Parklane Academy with the junior varsity game at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game.
