NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School (4-6) allowed six unearned runs to Columbia Academy Friday night before losing 13-10 at home.

The Lady Rebels recorded 15 hits in the loss with Lexie Emmanuel, Ashleigh Williams, McKenzie Landers, Jordan Petty and Harley Martin each recording a double. However, five total errors would keep Columbia in the game and open the door for a six-run seventh inning.

“We just didn’t make the plays,” ACCS head coach Rick Fife said. “We kicked it around, but if we can fix our defense and keep our bats going like this, we’ll be alright.”

Ashleigh Williams pitched for the Lady Rebels in the loss.

“The good thing is we get to travel to Brookhaven and play Brookhaven Academy (today),” Fife said. “We’ll get this fixed.”

Trinity 0, Clinton Christian 15

CLINTON — The Trinity Episcopal Lady Saints are still 0-for-the-season in 2015 as they were shut out by the Clinton Christian Academy Lady Warriors 15-0 in three innings Monday afternoon in MAIS District 5-AA action.

Clinton Christian did not take long to put this game out of hand with nine runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Warriors scored six more runs in the bottom of the second and did not even have to bat in the bottom of the third.

Trinity Episcopal (0-7-1, 0-2) plays host to district rival Porter’s Chapel Academy today with the varsity game at 5 p.m., followed by the junior varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

Centreville Academy 16, Ben’s Ford 1

BOGALUSA, La. — Karlyn Dalton and Marti Ann Longmire each hit inside-the-park home runs for Centreville Academy as the Lady Tigers took care of the Ben’s Ford Christian School Lady Eagles 16-1 in three innings Monday afternoon in an MAIS District 5-AAA game.

Centreville led Ben’s Ford 9-0 after two innings of play before blowing the game wide open with seven runs in the top of the third inning. Ben’s Ford scored one run off winning pitcher Riley Allen in the bottom of the third.

“We were good. We were steady. We played well,” Centreville first-year head coach Julie Carmichael said. “We turned a double play. It was good, steady solid defense.”

Kaitlynn Duvall and Katelynn Chandler each had a triple for the Lady Tigers, who also used some small ball to put the pressure on the Lady Eagles’ defense.

“We laid down some bunts. We hit the ball well. We had some timely hits,” Carmichael said.

As for Allen’s performance on the mound, Carmichael said, “She’s not a dominating pitcher, but she’s steady.”

Centreville Academy (3-5, 1-1) plays host to Central Private School today at 3:30 p.m. The junior varsity game that was originally scheduled for today has been postponed until Saturday, Sept. 5 at a time to be determined.
