Mitchell Schmitz of Brookhaven and Hunter Spiers of Natchez announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Hunter Schmitz to Mark Elliott McCann Jr., son of Mark and Pam McCann of Natchez.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Cathedral School in Natchez and a graduate of the University of Mississippi in Oxford. She is currently studying for her master’s degree at Alcorn State University. She is employed by Silas Simmons LLP in Natchez.

She is the granddaughter of Barbara Nell Parker Stewart and the late Van L. Stewart Jr. of Natchez and Paul and Shirley Schmitz of Water Valley.

The groom-to-be is also a graduate of Cathedral School and a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson. He is employed by D&D Drilling in Ferriday.

He is the grandson of Bruce McCann and the late Janet Chism McCann of Natchez and Helen Flowers of Natchez.

The wedding will be Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at Longwood Plantation.
