NATCHEZ — CableONE and the City of Natchez announced this week that Natchez will be able to lay claim to the title “Gig city” with the 2016 launch of GigaONE, the company’s new Gigabit service.

“We are thrilled that Natchez will be a Gig City,” Mayor Butch Brown said. “Gigabit Internet service will not only provide our residents with the faster speeds they need as families continue to connect multiple devices in their homes, but it is critical to the economic growth and development of our city.”

The company’s newest speed is 40 times faster than the average speed currently offered across the United States, and will be available to the majority of Cable ONE customers by the end of 2016.

“CableONE will be the first provider in the majority of our markets to offer Gigabit speeds to residential customers,” said Joe Felbab, vice president of marketing for CableONE.

“Unlike many of our competitors, Gigabit service will be available to all of our customers — not just a select few in certain areas. We’ve been committed for decades to serving smaller cities and towns, and we are delighted to provide them with the latest technology to make them Gig cities in 2016.”
