Trinity boys pick up win, girls fall

NATCHEZ — D’Asia Mitchell racked up 23 points, but the Trinity Episcopal Day School Lady Saints weren’t able to put away University Academy, falling 55-48.

The Lady Saints trailed 33-22 at halftime, but were able to rally back and take a 37-36 lead after the third quarter, thanks to outscoring University 15-3 in the period.

However, the Lady Lions were able to put up 17 points in the final quarter to seal the win.

Jada Swafford led University Academy with 21 points. ReJayla Williams added 13 points.

For Trinity Dionna Jackson had nine points and Tali Beard chipped in with eight.

With the loss, the Lady Saints fall to 3-2 on the year.

Trinity (boys) 67, University Academy 50

NATCHEZ — The Trinity Episcopal Day School Saints picked up their first victory of the season Monday with in a 67-50 defeat of University Academy.

The Saints rode a strong first half performance, and were able to nearly match University in the second half to win the game.

Trinity led 36-17 at halftime and wouldn’t look back.

Demond Fleming led the Saints with 21 points. David Jackson added 19 points and Kevontaye Caston had 12 of his own.
