Georgia L. Scott

NATCHEZ — Services for Georgia L. Scott, 86, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home with a celebration of life service at 5 p.m.

Ms. Scott was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Natchez, the daughter of William Scott and Purnella Scott.

She was a graduate of St. Francis High School and Tuskegee Institute, with focused studies at Alcorn State University and Cornell University.

She was a teacher for the Natchez-Adams County school district and was retired.

Ms. Scott was a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church and served as musician for the junior church.

She was a member of the Retired Teachers. She enjoyed music and tutoring students.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jon David Scott.

Survivors include one daughter, La Tisha Scott-Thompson; two goddaughters, Patricia Hines Ford and Jessie Hines Halls; four grandchildren, Taylor Scott, Amber Thompson, Greg Thompson Jr., and Danyel Thompson; and five great-grandchildren.
