AMITE, La. — The Trinity Episcopal Day School boys basketball team picked up their second win of the 2015 season, 50-43 against Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Class AAAA opponent Oak Forest.

The Saints trailed by four after the first quarter of play, but were able to rally back and control the game the rest of the way.

“I think they did a great job in doing things I needed them to do in terms of running the offense and hustling and playing great defense,” Trinity head coach Chris Bunio said. “We’ve started to come together and understand they need to trust the process and take pride in the details.”

Jakarius Caston led the way for the Saints with 16 points on the night, a season-high for him.

“He started off slow, but found a rhythm and groove,” Bunio said. “He had opportunities to attack the basket and started taking them. When he gets in that groove, he shows how much potential he has.”

The Saints had a tough task in defending Oak Forest big man Bransen Shwebel, who stands 6-feet-5-inches and recorded a game-high 20 points, but Bunio said he was proud of the effort his team put in against him.

“It was extremely hard, but I thought CJ (Chatman) and DJ (David Jackson) did a good job in handling him,” Bunio said. “We had to do our best with help side defense.”

The Saints now look ahead to district play on the horizon, and Bunio said spirits are high.

“They are loving it,” he said. “Going into district coming up, this win lets them know how much potential they have. If they stick to the plan, things will work out.”
