Come to Christmas Market on river

Published 12:01 am Tuesday, December 8, 2015

Temperatures are dropping, (well, maybe not this week), Christmas trees are going up, and it’s time to start thinking about presents for all of the loved ones on your list.

Luckily, you can get most of your shopping done locally, and with all that money you will save on gas and shipping (online shoppers, I’m talking to you), you can buy more presents for yourself! And if you’re like me and use the “One for you, two for me” method, saving money is very important!

So, I encourage you to buy that bracelet stack you’ve been eyeing from A Gallerie and buy your best friend the sassy shoes in Soiree. Buy your husband all the camo his heart desires from Sports Center, even if his closet already looks like a national forest.

And when you’ve covered all the fabulous shops in town, I encourage you to come and join the passengers of the American Queen as they shop at the First Natchez Christmas Market.

Every Wednesday in December, Natchez Under-the-Hill will transform into a beautiful place to get a little Christmas shopping done. The atmosphere is delightfully festive with music, food and happy crowds.

The market, sponsored by the American Queen Steamboat Company, will take place every Wednesday in December, and will be set up Under-the-Hill in the green space across from the boat ramp the Queen uses.

The market will consist of around 10 to 15 booths with both Natchez and other nearby Mississippi vendors. Vendors include local artisans selling Christmas-themed goods, along with arts, crafts, jewelry, clothing, baked goods and so much more.

This is the perfect opportunity to get all of your Christmas shopping done in one convenient place and support Mississippi artists and vendors this holiday season.

There are five different opportunities to shop this wonderful market:

-Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

-Dec.16 from noon to 5 p.m.

-Dec. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

-Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Christmas Market is open to locals as well as tourists and boat passengers.

With all of the holiday shopping out of the way, it gives us a chance to truly enjoy the Christmas season and for all that it stands.
