Nubian Social Aid & Pleasure Club will celebrate the Mardi Gras Season with its fifth annual Tableau Mardi Gras Ball Saturday, Jan. 2 at the Natchez Convention Center.

Nubian’s 2016 theme is “Nubian Goes Prime Time.” Entertainment will be provided by Lebrado and Hotline Band. The event is open to the public. For ticket information call any Nubian member or call 601-392-3344 or 601-597-8063.

King Donald Acker

Donald is a lifelong resident of Bay St. Louis. He is the youngest son of Augusta and the late Alexander Acker. He has one living brother, Steven Acker of New Orleans and one sister, Janet Green of Natchez.

He is married to Susan Necaise Acker, and together they have five children.

Donald is a 1982 graduate of Bay High School, where he played all varsity sports. He graduated from Jefferson Davis Junior College and completed further studies at Phillips College in Gulfport in Business Administration. Donald worked at Regina Industries in Long Beach and afterward worked at Mason Chamberlin at Stennis Test Site for NASA as an explosive technician for 10 years.

He has been employed with Coast Electric Power Association for 26 years. Donald is a member of the Mississippi Agriculture Commerce Organization.

He is also a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis. His interests are watching sports on television, fishing, gardening, cooking, barbecuing, playing his drums and, most importantly, spending time with family and friends.

Queen Doris Williams

Doris is the wife of Earl Williams Jr. and the daughter of the late Izola and Rudolph Brown. She is the mother of four.

She attends Zion Chapel No. 2 Kingston where she is a member of the choir. She is graduate of Wilkinson County High School. Doris is employed at Vidalia Apparel as a team leader. She is a member of the Luncinda Robinson Chapter No. 6 Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of Sphinx, Heroines of Jericho, Pinkie Jackson Amaranth Court, L.E. Spencer, Voices of Hope and the Adams County Mass Choir

Doris enjoys shopping, singing, spending time with family and friends. Her favorite scripture is the Psalm 23.

Maid Emonnie Williams

Emonnie is the granddaughter of Walter and Syvilla Everett. She is a freshman at Vidalia High School and is a member of the 4-H Club, FCCLA, Art Club and Key Club. Emmonie attends Bethel Baptist Church where she is a member of the youth choir, serves as a youth usher and operates the computer on second Sundays (where she puts scriptures, Bible verses and songs on the board). She assists in Sunday school classes and the church nursery. Emonnie is a former dancer for the Miss-Lou Prancing Misses.

She enjoys dancing and singing.

Maid Jermia Page

Jermia is the daughter of Marcus and Tangela Sullivan. She is a junior at Natchez High School where she is a member of the 4H Club of Natchez. Jermia is a member of Greater New Zion Baptist Church and sings in the youth choir. She is also an active volunteer with the non-profit organization, “It Still Takes a Village,” which provides mentoring programs to middle and high school youth in Southwest Mississippi who have lost a parent or sibling. In her spare time, Jermia enjoys shopping and spending time with family and friends. Her motto is “Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself.” Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13,  I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. 

Maid Amanda Montgomery

Amanda is the daughter of Ronald and Lesia Montgomery. She is a junior at Wilkinson County High School in Woodville. Amanda is an honor student and attends Pleasant Green Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Larry Andrews. Amanda is a member of several organizations and enjoys traveling, helping others and socializing.

Junior Duke Robert Hayes

Robert is the son of Clarence D. and Kathy Hayes. He is a senior and honor student at Natchez High School. His hobbies are spending quality time with family and friends and designing graphics. He attends Jerusalem Baptist Church in Kingston. He plans to attend Jackson State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

Junior Duke Derrion Batieste

Derrion is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Derek Batieste. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Rayford Batieste and Raymond and Mary Green. Derrion is a junior honor student at Cathedral High School. He is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Derrion’s hobbies include playing basketball, video games and spending time with his girlfriend Jeniece.

He plans to attend Louisiana State University or Mississippi State University after graduation in 2017.

Junior Duke KeLandrix Lushaw

KeLandrix is the son of Marshonda Lushaw and the grandson of James and Lily Lushaw. He is a junior at Wilkinson County High School. KeLandrix plays football, basketball and runs track. He attends Hopewell African Methodist Episcopal Church where he serves as Sunday school secretary and he ushers in the mission offering. KeLandrix plans to attend Louisiana State University. His hobbies are playing sports, riding 4-wheelers and spending time with family and friends.
