Area games rescheduled due to weather

NATCHEZ — The threat of heavy rain and strong to severe thunderstorms in parts of central and south Mississippi forced some regular-season and postseason basketball games to be postponed Tuesday.

Natchez High School was scheduled to host Provine High School of Jackson in MHSAA Region 6-5A action, but the varsity girls and varsity boys games will be rescheduled to 6 and 7:30 p.m. today, respectively.

The first round of the MAIS District 4-AAA Tournament that was to take place starting late Tuesday afternoon at Adam County Christian School was pushed back to today.

The girls’ bracket game between Brookhaven Academy and Simpson Academy will still start at 4 p.m. today, and the Cathedral girls will play Laurel Christian at 6:30 p.m.

The boys’ bracket games will also start at the times they were to take place on Tuesday — Laurel Christian School-Cathedral at 5:15 p.m., and Brookhaven Academy will square off against ACCS at 7:45 p.m.

The MHSAA Region 7-3A contests between Port Gibson and Jefferson County was postponed to 6 p.m. today.

Additionally, the girls game between MAIS District 5-AA rivals Wilkinson County Christian Academy and Trinity Episcopal School in Natchez has been cancelled. The game will not be rescheduled.
