Adams Christian clinched the district 4-AAA title and will move on to the South State tournament next week.

“One for one,” head coach Melanie Hall said. “We talked about being a team together playing as one for one Jesus Christ.”

Hall said the district title win was the long payoff for a goal she set for her squad before the season even began.

“This is huge, step No. 1,” Hall said. “When you finish a season, you don’t wait until the following season to set your goals. It’s part of a process. You have to have a plan to reach those goals.”

Adams County jumped out to a 35-19 lead at halftime. Adams Christian didn’t keep up the same stellar offensive pace in the second half, after a 22-point second quarter. That didn’t mean there were no Lady Rebels putting up big numbers in the scoring column.

Bailey Boyd and Anna McDaniel led Adams Christian with 14 points, each. McDaniel also had a double-double with 10 rebonds.

“Overall I thought the girls had a very good game, “There’s always little things and we’re never satisfied.”

Boyd ran point for Adams Christian and said five first-half three pointers and efficient ball movement got the Lady Rebels into an offensive rhythm. After that, it was all about controlling the ball.

“We want to go for as much as we can this year,” Boyd said. “We had to jump on them, and once we did, we had to let them know they can’t hang with us.”

Adams Christian takes the No. 1 seed in the South State tournament and will face the No. 4 seed. The first round games begin Tuesday.
