Come see special art exhibit this week

Phil Thompson, Instructor at the New Orleans School of Fine Art And Craft, will be in Natchez today through Friday conducting an oil painting workshop for the Natchez Art Association.

ArtsNatchez Gallery is excited to partner with The Natchez Art Association to host an exhibit of Phil’s newest works in conjunction with his workshop.

Phil Thompson paints in oil, both polychrome and monochrome (sepia). His subjects range from simple still life, to nudes, landscapes, and cityscapes. Thompson shows his work regularly at the Bywater Art Market. Some of his pieces are on permanent display at the New Orleans Conservation Guild and Gallery 421 in Covington, La. Thompson began his formal artistic training in the mid-1980s at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. In 1990, he won the Academy’s Stuempfig Award for excellence. He is a 6-time winner of the Distinction in Painting Award at the prestigious Three Rivers Fine Art Festival in Covington, as well as winner of numerous awards in other regional art shows.

This special exhibit can be viewed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday at ArtsNatchez Gallery, 425 Main Street.
