NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School made up for lost time with three games Tuesday.

The Rebels hosted a one-day tournament that feature five teams playing throughout the day.

ACCS coach Matthew Freeman noted, however, he was missing a number of key starters due to the school being on spring break.

Parklane 16, ACCS 1

Game three wrapped up the tournament and ACCS’s trifecta of games.

The Rebels were unable to dig themselves out of a seven-run hole in the first inning.

All seven of Parklane’s runs in the first inning came with two. Starting pitcher Devin Grey got two early outs when, with a full count, Cory Lewis launched a two-run dinger to spark the rally for Parklane.

Adams County’s only response was an RBI single from Tyler Wilson in the first inning.

“We were digging deep with our sixth and seventh pitchers there,” Freeman said. “I just wanted them to throw a lot of strikes. It didn’t really happen and then we had some errors on the pitches that were hit.”

For Freeman, the day was an opportunity for Adams County to get reps against a variety of pitchers.

“(Tuesday) was a good turnout,” Freeman said. “My kids got three games’ worth of at-bats. That’s the way I look at it.”

ASC 7, ACCS 6

In its second game, three costly ACCS errors led to three unearned runs as Adams County Christian School fell to Amite School Center 7-6 in five innings.

The game was ruled over after five due to a 110-minute time limit.

ACCS managed to rally for three runs in the bottom of the fifth, and had the tying run on base with just one out, but the next two batters flew out and struck out.

“You would have liked to see a couple more innings, and see if we would have had them,” Freeman said. “But they would have been batting, too, so you never know.”

Despite some shaky defense behind him, ACCS pitcher Tyler Wilson managed to strike out 10 batters in tossing a complete game.

“He pitched good enough to get the win,” Freeman said. “We just didn’t make the plays and execute. I’m not looking for guys just to make the routine plays, I’m looking for someone to step up and make the spectacular play.”

Gage Dossett and Devin Grey each smacked run-scoring hits, while Chris White laced an double that scored a run for ACCS.

Central Louisiana 6, ACCS 1

In its opener, ACCS fell to University Academy of Central Louisiana 6-1.
