Natchez 15, Bogue Chitto 5

BOGUE CHITTO — Natchez High School picked up its fifth straight win on the road against Bogue Chitto High School Friday on the back of another strong pitching performance and juggernaut offense.

Natchez scored in every inning but the sixth, and sprung for a 15-5 win on the road.

Shavoké Herrington led the scoring barage with three hits, including a double, and scored two runs.

“We’re playing well right now,” coach Dan Smith said. “The main thing is pitchers are throwing strikes and we’re playing defense. We’re playing a complete game. We just have to get the small things and move more runners over.”

After a three-run first inning, Bogue Chitto scored two runs off of Bulldog pitcher Jordan Hamilton in the bottom of the first inning. Hamilton held it down for the remainder of the game, allowing two runs in the fifth inning when his team had already racked up an 11-4 lead.

Smith said Hamilton was able to get lots of ground balls and his infielders manufactured outs behind him.

“(Hamilton) was a Bulldog on the mound tonight he kept it in the zone we had three or four double plays,” Smith said. “We’ve had a couple of young kids stepping up to the plate. Everyone is picking each other up.”
