Delta Charter School lights up the scoreboard with 19 runs

WINNSBORO, La. — Delta Charter School scored seven runs in the top of the third inning to break open a close game en route to a 19-6 win over Family Community Christian School in five innings Tuesday afternoon.

Delta Charter scored two runs in the top of the first inning and the score remained 2-0 until the Lady Storm went on a tear in the top of the third and, just like that, it was 9-0.

Sydney Watts got the win and allowed six runs on six hits and four walks and struck out three batters. Emily Mason went 2-for-2 with a triple, Shelbi McManus was 2-for-2, and Bailey Yates was 3-for-5 with a double to lead the Lady Storm’s 11-hit attack.

Delta Charter (9-6) returns to LHSAA District 2-1A action at 4 p.m. Thursday when it plays at Beekman Charter School.

Vidalia drops two in district double-header

VIDALIA — The Lady Vikings lost to two LHSAA District 3-3A opponents Tuesday at the Concordia Recreation District 3 Complex.

In Game 1, Vidalia led Bolton High School 1-0 after four innings of play before the Lady Bears the next 13 runs and rolled to a 13-4 win over the Lady Vikings. At the plate, Sara Cockerham went 3-for-4 and Katelyn McCarver was 2-for-4 with a double.

In Game 2, the Lady Vikings lost to the Buckeye High School Lady Panthers 18-1 in just four innings. Winning pitcher Alexis Dennis held Vidalia to just three hits, one of them a double by Tatum Turner.

Vidalia (10-11, 3-4) next plays at 4 p.m. Friday against Sterlington at the Mangham Tournament.
