NATCHEZ — Services for Janie Lee Hardin, 84, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, in Jackson, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.04:16 JanieHardin obitpic

Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Mrs. Hardin was born May 24, 1931, in Natchez, the daughter of Otis Elzy and Louise Jones.

She attended Brumfield School and was a housekeeper.

Mrs. Hardin was also a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church and served on the usher board.

She was an Eastern Star and enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Hardin was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Lee Elzy; and her husband, Joseph “Joe” Hardin.

Survivors include three children, Alice Beverly of Detroit, Lillie Alford and husband, Emanuel, of Jackson and Jeff Jones and wife, Regina Morrow, of Minneapolis; one brother, Harvey Shinell and wife, Marva, St. Louis; a special daughter, Jeanette Jones of Minneapolis; five grandchildren, Brenda Beverly of Afghanistan, Vanessa King and husband, Norris, and Tina Miller and husband, Jarmond, all of Jackson, Schewanda Beverly of Natchez, and Monique Sims and husband, Dr. Stanley Sims, of Pearl; eight great-grandchildren, Montrell Beverly, Shenetra Beverly, Nakiah Butler, KeDarrius Berry, Daryl Berry, Norris King, Ashley King and Gabriel King; six great-great-grandchildren, Jayden Butler, Maydsen Butler, Landen Butler, Tavyion Beverly Jr. and Kameron King; a special niece, Jennie King Hardin; special friends, Clara Mae Harper and Marshall Clarks; one goddaughter, Clara Mae Owens; and a number of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hoggatt Sr., Ernest Hoggatt, Derrick Hoggatt, Stephen Hoggatt, Larry Hardin and Trizell Hardin.
