Nov. 18, 1931 – April 16, 2016

NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Kenneth O. Carter, 84, of Natchez, who died Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville with the Rev. Kevin Dixon and the Rev. Mike Harrigill officiating.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Carter was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Baton Rouge, the son of Ira Carter and Mamie Addison Carter.

He was a devoted husband and father, and was a member and deacon of Pioneer Baptist Church in Woodville. Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was retired from Pembec Paper Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Carter and an infant brother; one grandson, Ken Canova; and two sisters, Colleen Toups and Brenda Burnside.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtis McCurley Carter of Natchez; one son, Jerry N. Carter of Woodville; one daughter, Lisa C. Canova of Natchez; two sisters, Judy Olivier of Denham Springs and Joan Smith of Zachary; and one brother, Ira Carter Jr. of Baton Rouge.
