WINNSBORO, La. — Just 24 hours after an hard-fought 4-2 win at home against district opponent Peabody on senior night, the Vidalia High School Vikings were on the road to take on Class 4A Franklin Parish High School.

And it turned out to be a rough outing for Vidalia as the Vikings committed seven errors and could not produce enough offense to overcome those miscues as they fell to the Patriots 11-5 Tuesday afternoon.

Vidalia jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Franklin Parish scored at least two runs between the bottom of the second inning and the bottom of the fifth en route to a commanding 11-3 lead. The Vikings could only one run in both the top of the fourth inning and the top of the fifth. They scored two runs in the top of the sixth, but it was not nearly enough.

Jacob Wilson was charged with the loss after he gave up 10 runs (four earned) on 11 hits and three walks to go with four strikeouts in four innings. Chandler Grayson went 2-for-3 with a double, Wilson went 2-for-3, and Tristian Weatherly had a double for the Vikings.

Vidalia (11-10) closes out LHSAA District 3-3A play at 6 p.m. Thursday at Winnfield High School.
