Mr. McLemore was born Jan. 2, 1953, in Cottonport, La., the son of Jack Hendrix McLemore Sr. and Bernice McLemore.

He was a lifelong resident of Vidalia and a retired attorney. His college preparatory education included the Concordia Parish school system and Cathedral High School. His college education included a bachelor’s degree and a juris doctor degree from Louisiana State University.

In his non-work life, Jack was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, golfer and sports fan, especially when those activities included his family.

Jack served as an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 158 in Natchez and participated in guiding both of his sons to become Eagle Scouts. He also served as president of the Dixie Youth Baseball League in Vidalia for a number of years along with many other years spent coaching, umpiring and working on the fields. Most recently, his greatest joy came from his interaction with his three grandchildren who all knew him affectionately as “Papa.”

In his work and community life, he was also very active. Jack served the Town of Vidalia as the town attorney for more than 30 years and represented a number of other municipal entities in their endeavors. In addition to the municipal work, he had a bustling general practice which allowed him to interact with people of all walks of life, which he thoroughly enjoyed. In past years, he worked with and was a member of the Concordia Chamber of Commerce, Cathedral School Board, Knights of Columbus, Lion’s Club, Louisiana City Attorney’s Association, The Seventh Judicial Bar Association and the Krewe of Phoenix. Most recently, Jack was honored as the Male Concordian of the Year by the Concordia Parish Chamber of Commerce.
