NATCHEZ — Dianne’s Frame Shop rallied for two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to come back to beat Byrne Insurance 7-6 Tuesday in 7 to 8 year old Dixie Youth baseball action.

“I didn’t think we were going to be able to do it, but we pulled it out,” Dianne’s Frame Shop coach Benjie Credle said.

Dianne’s Frame Shop began the game equally effectively as it finished it, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. The highlight of the rally came when Maddox McDonald smacked a two-run double to right field. McDonald said, however, he felt like his squad perhaps could have scored more runs in the opening inning.

“All of our outs I felt were luck,” he said. “It was a really close game.”

McDonald said the reason for his team’s success Tuesday can be attributed to the depth of hitting on the team.

“We have a super good team,” McDonald said. “We helped each other in winning the game.”

Byrne Insurance appeared poised to escape with a narrow win after it came back from deficits of 3-0 and 5-3 to take a 6-5 advantage heading to the bottom of the fourth.

Byrne’s three-run fourth was highlighted by a pair of run-scoring singles from Enzo Cutrera and Joseph Porter.

“I’m real proud of the kids,” Byrne Insurance coach Matt Winge said. “We’ve been fighting all season, just seeing them come out here and consistently get better each week (is gratifying). We started off rough, but we’re getting competitive now.”

Kason Knight had an RBI single and AJ Baskin smacked an RBI double for Byrne Insurance.

“They really believe in themselves and they believe in one another,” Winge said of his squad. “They’re cheering each other on, and that’s good to see.”

For Dianne’s Frame Shop, Paxton Johns roped an RBI triple while Aiden Barnes recorded an RBI double.

The comeback win for Dianne’s Frame Shop is its second win on the season, and its first since its opening game of the year.

“The weather has been a real problem — we haven’t gotten a lot of practice in,” Credle said. “Here lately, we’ve been able to get more practice time in, and we’ve been putting it together during the games.”

Both teams will be back in action at 7:15 p.m. Friday when they are slated to meet again.
