FERRIDAY — A memorial service to celebrate the life of Cleveland “Pete” Swilley, 79, who died Wednesday, April 27, 2016, in Ferriday, will be 5 p.m. today at Hill Memorial Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Randy Williams and the Rev. Bo Swilley officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Swilley was born April 17, 1937, in Gilbert, La., the son of Cleve Ciscero Swilley and Etta Mae Martin Swilley.

He was a sanitation supervisor and served his country in the U.S. National Guard.

Mr. Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Smith Swilley; his parents; and one sister, Lynette Swilley Saunier.

Survivors include one brother, Daniel Marlin Swilley and wife, Ann, of Ferriday; one sister, Mary Alice Ford and husband, Gene, of Monroe, La.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
