NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Florine Smith Gary, 84, of Natchez, who died Saturday, May 14, 2016, in Natchez, will be 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Webber officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be noon until time of services today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gary was born July 31, 1931 at Brookhaven, the daughter of Hugh Smith and Carrie Anding Smith. She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking and flower arranging. She was a caregiver by nature and enjoyed being surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin F. Gary; and two brothers, Jewel and Leslie Smith.

Survivors include three daughters, Dianne Portal Brown of Natchez, Sharon Portal Amox of Arnaudville, La., and Debbie Portal Phillips of Natchez; one son, David Lawrence Portal and wife, Susan, of Patterson, La.; grandchildren Kevin Brown and wife, Melissa, of Hattiesburg, Courtney Brown Feltus and husband, Charles, of natchez, Clifton and Lindsey Amox, both of Arnaudville, La., Jill Gosa and husband, Tracy, of Meridian, Morgan Yates and husband, Teddie, of Batesville, Tyler Portal and wife, Katie, of Berwikx, La., April Jackson and husband, Cody, of Patterson; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ann Smith of Brookhaven; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Brown, Charles Feltus, Clifton Amox, Tyler Portal, Jimmy Smith and Glenn Smith.
