NATCHEZ — Services for Doris Louise Davis, 78, of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at True Love Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Brown officiating.  05:25 DorisLDavis obitpic

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. at the funeral home with a celebration of life wake service at 5:30 p.m.

Visitation will continue Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Ms. Davis was born March 27, 1938, in Natchez, the daughter of Dudley Clay Jr. and Odessa Thomas Barnes.

She was educated in Natchez and was a retired caregiver.

Doris was a member of the Marblestone Baptist Church where she served on the usher board and the mother’s board. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Heavenly Choir. Doris enjoyed cooking, crocheting, watching soap operas and spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, June Henry; two brothers, Maurice Donnan and Charles Green; and two grandsons, Bryan Ford Jr. and Benjamin Davis Jr.

Survivors include her lifelong companion, James B. Young; five sons, James Ford, Bryan Ford, Hagg Muhammad, Benjamin Davis and Louis Davis; two daughters, Joyce Ford McCoy and Codessa Davis; one brother, Mark Thomas; two sisters, Virginia Brown and Evelyn Carter; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
