Area to be filled with Halloween tricks, treats

NATCHEZ — Ghosts, ghouls and goblins — or more likely superheroes, princesses and zombies — are set to wander the local streets starting this week and continuing through Monday at a monster mishmash of Halloween events around the Miss-Lou.

Cox Hill is celebrating 20 years of frights with its annual haunted trail.

The trail ride continues at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The trail ride features classic horror characters, such as Jason, Freddy and Michael Myers as well as others.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.

All proceeds will be donated to two local families in need.

The festivities are located on Springfield Road in Natchez, just off of Liberty Road.

Downtown Natchez

Trick or treating in Natchez will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Halloween, Monday.

The annual Trick or Treat for Little Feet for Halloween event will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday in downtown Natchez.

Merchants on Main, Commerce, Pearl and Franklin streets will be open to hand out candy and celebrate Halloween.

The event is free and open to the public.

City of Vidalia

The City of Vidalia will trick or treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in neighborhoods throughout the city.

The Vidalia Police Department will have extra patrols out during those hours and asks chaperones to keep children out of the streets.

Trunk or Treat

The Town of Ferriday will host its city-wide “Trunk or Treat” event from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Haney’s Big House on First Street.

Games, refreshments, music and a haunted house will be featured as part of the event.

Parental supervision of children under 12 is asked.

Longwood Carnival

The annual Halloween carnival at Longwood is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The carnival will have a variety of games and activities, including a duck pond, cakewalk, face painting, a haunted hayride and more.

Concessions will be available and include baked goods, hot dogs, nachos and more.

Admission to the carnival, which is sponsored by the Pilgrimage Garden Club, is $5 per car. Carnival-goers can then purchase game tickets for 50 cents each or a $10 armband for unlimited games.

Magnolia Hall Pumpkin Patch

The pumpkin patch sponsored by the Natchez Garden Club on the lawn of Magnolia Hall is open from 2 to 4 p.m. daily through Sunday.
